A world of fiction?
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005“The point of departure is a great faith in ordinary human beings and the sane and decent way they behave when they have the true facts of the case” - Wilfred Burchett, Phnom Penh, 1968
Its exactly a month ago I posted something. So if you are wondering what is with the title of post? The context is Recently I have seen a documentary called Enemy Image which shows how the American government manipulated media to show Americans what is called sanitised image of the wars it was involved in. Enemy Image uses outstanding reports and images from American wars of the last 30 years to explore the changing role of the war correspondent and the strange disappearance of dead bodies from the image of war. I never had belief in commercial media, but what frightens me is people like you and me are influenced by what we read in the papers and what we see on the evening news.Because we are so far from an event reported in the news. By the time it reaches us from the source it is maniplated, twisted and shown at the interests of the government and producers or editors of the news. What is true journalism? Does it exist today? Who do we trust? Do we live in a world of fiction?
