Hidden or Cache (Fr) is a great movie. It is intense, disturbing and ironic. Many viewers feel cheated by its inconclusive ending, but I love movies which linger even when you walk out of the door. A certain scene is quite disturbing in the movie and really feels as if you are watching one of those bizzare videos, you get to download from the internet of people getting beheaded. With this movie you may not find an answer to its plot or may come up with too many. That is the point I think Michael Hanneke of The Piano Teacher fame tries to make. The Movie is called Hidden get it? The real point the movie seems to be making is that in our rush to find clues to complete a narrative or understand what is happening we let so many factors influence our opinion, we sometimes lose sight of what really is going on. It is a superbly crafted, entertaining, and challenging film that makes us painfully aware of the consequences of the lack of individual responsibility and creepy paranoia of modern life and of Western arrogance toward people considered inferior or prejudiced.
Imagine a Hippie Volkswagen, buck-toothed tow truck and Porsche as a Lead lady. If its hard to imagine go watch Cars. Pixar does it again, a non human story with nice Human values. Half way through the movie you forget that cars are people or people are cars which ever you prefer. A DVD in my collection for sure. The landscapes in the movie are best ever by Pixar. I Would love to see an Imax version of it. One thing about Cars the movie, I have to say is its very American to the core. Monsters Inc. was my favourite Pixar production but cars is my new favourite. P.S. Michael Schumacher plays a ferrari.
